Sam Davis

Principal

Greetings Eagle Families! I’m Mr. Davis, the proud principal of Punta Gorda Middle School. I am humbly honored to lead our Eagle community as we focus on high academic achievement supported by engaging, positive learning environments. Middle school is a time of great change in our students' lives and the PGMS staff is committed to preparing students for continued academic success in high school while creating wonderful and lasting memories of their middle school experience.

A little about me. I was born near Telluride, Colorado, and grew up on a farm in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. I worked my way through college as a carpenter and have done everything from waiting tables to training animals. My hobbies range from Mayan archeology to aviation to boating. I graduated in 2001 from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and continued my education earning a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Stetson University. After 30 years in the Orlando area and 7 years as a Principal with Orange County Public Schools, my wife and I have happily relocated to Florida’s beautiful West coast. I look forward to forging partnerships with our parents and positive connections with our students as we strive towards the shared goal of academic success and personal growth for all students!!

Kristina Kelch

Assistant Principal of Discipline

I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new assistant principal. Although I am new to this school, I have been part of our district for several years. I am excited to bring my experience and passion for education to our community, specifically in the area of student discipline. I am ecstatic to join the Punta Gorda Middle family and community. I am honored that I was given this opportunity.

I formerly lived in Englewood and attended Charlotte County schools for Elementary, Middle and High School. My passion has always been working with kids. At a young age, I knew making a difference was my calling. I was lucky enough to gain insight on the job profession by volunteering with my mother. Looking back, those experiences shaped and guided me to fulfill my dream of working in education and with children. I graduated high school and attended State College of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University. There I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I furthered my career at American College of Education where I received my Masters in Educational Leadership. I am proud to share that I have more than 15 years of educational experience within our district, instructional and administrative.

On a personal note, I’d like to share a little about my family. I currently live in North Port with my husband and fourteen-year-old son, Liam, and eight month old daughter, Laine. We are a very active family. If we are not at the baseball fields we are on the boat fishing. We enjoy spending time as a family and making new memories.

Throughout my time in the district, I’ve heard wonderful things about your school- the strong sense of community, the commitment to excellence, and the incredible dedication and passion each of you brings to our students’ education and well being. I look forward to getting to know each of you and learning about the unique strengths and traditions that make our school special. As I step into this role, my goal is to support you in every way possible, particularly in fostering a positive and respectful school environment.

I believe that effective discipline is rooted in strong relationships, clear communication, and consistent expectations. I am committed to working collaboratively with you to ensure our students not only understand the importance of our school rules but also feel supported and motivated to succeed. We will strive for excellence each and every day. My door is always open, and I welcome your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions on how we can best achieve these goals. There will be hurdles, struggles, and challenges that we will face and overcome together, but in the end, the successes that we will endure will outweigh them all. I am looking forward to leading and learning together as a school family and community.

Once again, I am very thankful for this remarkable opportunity. I am devoted to you, our students, family members, and community. I am excited for a successful and rewarding year ahead, working together to create a safe and supportive environment for all our students. I am here if you need anything. Do not hesitate to reach out to me by email or phone.

Sincerely,

Kristina Kelch

Renee McLain

Assistant Principal of Facilities

Hello Eagles! I am Ms. McLain. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where I attended high school and focused my interests in performance arts. I attended Texas State University, where I earned a Bachelor's in Music Education. Later, I returned to the Southern Missouri and Illinois region to teach for 20 years, and during that time performed in the region as a saxophone player and vocalist for a variety of ensembles. I earned a Master's degree in School Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009 and continued to teach high school band, choir, and music theory, before accepting the position of Assistant Principal at PGMS in 2020. I am grateful to have this opportunity to be closer to my family and enjoy an administrative career in such a wonderful community. During my spare time, I enjoy listening to live music, grilling, yoga, and hanging out anywhere near the beautiful waters of the area. Lastly, I am also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.......but I do love my Eagles!
